Working on headgasket replacement on a 1994 944T (215k miles). I drained the oil today with the head off after the car has been sitting for a couple of months.
The drained oil has a lot of solid particles in it of various sizes. I'm figuring it's the bits of the old headgasket that broke up when it blew. When I removed the old head and gasket I was very careful to keep the oil holes covered.
Of course I have no idea if there's more trash sitting in the block. What's the preferred approach at this point? The new head is on and I hope to start it up tomorrow. Should I run it and immediately drain the new oil or should I drop the oil pan and inspect it first?
