IRS clicking? 900

I have a 1996 960 wagon and have been wondering for a while now what the clicking was that is coming from the back or the car. Replacing the rear rotors and brakes today it finally dawned on me that it is probably one of the links in my IRS. The clicking is not loud but noticeable enough that you hear it when coming to a stop at lights. Is there a way to check and see if one of those links is on its way out? The IRS thing is all new to me and I am not sure what would be involved in inspecting and/or fixing it....if that is possible.
