I bought an 88 240DL really cheap this morning and expected a few minor issues. It needs a tuneup - one plug wire is not getting any fire so I'm just going to replace the cap/rotor/wires/plugs. - also it needs new pads on the rear -
There is one issue that's bothering me pretty badly though. Intermittently (but most frequently after a hard left turn) the car will lose power, starts to knock, and the temperature gauge rises (but not the whole way to the red)
The car has decent power otherwise - for running on 3 cylinders - but the car feels like it's starved for fuel when that issue starts.
FYI, the car had been sitting for a few months before I bought it.
Have any of you brickboarders had a similar issue? I'm hoping that it's a clogged fuel filter and wonder if you've got some input. I'm underemployed and don't have the money to replace the catalytic converter or both fuel pumps and hope that I can get everything done with less than $100 in parts.
Thanks
