hello all,
recently after installing a sport steering wheel i found that my headlights were no longer switching from low to high beams, there is no click in the relay when switched and no high beam indicator light, thinking that i'd somehow bothered the switch while working on the steering wheel, i tried switching the high beam wire to the low terminal on the relay (56b), highs lit up ok. so thinking the switch was the problem i jumped the relay switching terminal (31b) direct to a few good grounds under the hood and still the relay wouldnt switch. I went to the pick and pull and grabbed a nice fresh looking uncorroded relay out of a 240, installed the new-used relay and did the same jump test on the switch terminal and no change, no noise from relay.

fyi, hella h4 headlights were installed about 6 months ago with no obvious issues(get yourself some, great upgrade!),the generator was long ago replaced with a bosch 55amp alternator. also the turn signals are working fine.

-am i correct that the steering column switch merely grounds the relay terminal 31a for a second thus switching the current from terminal 56a to 56b (high & low)?

-is the simple conclusion that i just have two bad headlight relays or am i missing something else? it is my understanding that both the switch and relay
rarely fail.
