As a new 240 owner I am VERY pleased I found this incredible website. My first post involves a question about my non-working fuel gauge. I had to fix the odometer gear so while I was in there I took the fuel gauge out to examine. I noticed unerneath the face plate it looked as though there was a coil of wire and it was broken. I drilled the rivet holding the face plate on and twisted the broken copper wire together at the broken ends. Does anyone know if this would even make the gauge work again or is the type of bare wire that is coated with some sort of clear "varnish" that you cannot simply twist the wire together to make a connection? Thanks for any help on this.
