I've done this on a redblock three or four times now. All of them were cam out, old hard hushers out, put back together, measure, adjust, put in new hushers and roll on. I have one I want to double check myself on that I have about 2K miles on the new hushers. Question is are they likely to still be springy enough to much up the checking of lash still and should I remove them, check/adjust then put them back(or new since they are cheap), or will they be squished enough that I can check lash well with them in place? I'm not really expecting it to be off, but I want to be sure as I'm chasing down a pestering problem. Thoughts?
I'm tempted to just leave them out, I've had VW's galore with the same valve/cam setup and never had much noise out of them, both hyd and mechanical in gas an diesel. I don't think the click could be louder than the piston slap anyway. :)
