Air Conditioning Options 120-130

Yes it is getting close to that time of year again and my thoughts are turning to skin melting to my seats and sweat flowing like water down my back. Consequently I'm dreaming up air conditioning options. I wanted to see what my fellow brickers would recommend. Here are three options, I'm weighing:

1) Install a used Volvo standard frigiking 500. I have access to one that seems to be in good shape for a few hundred bucks.

2) Purchase and install a newer modern system for what I estimate to be about $1500

3) Take it to a pro, where I would need to possibly shell out a few grand.

What would you recommend. I have no experience with A/C systems, I 'm decent with a wrench, I have some cash but am trying to keep as much of it as possible. You know so I can sink in even more money on things for the Volvo.

Recommendations...advice...heartfelt, inspirational experiences? I welcome them all.

If anyone knows of any good resources for DIY, I'd love to have a look at them as well.By the way this is for a '67 4-door 122, B18D engine.

Thanks!
