Do you need to remove cam sprocket when removing head? 900 1992

OK, further into head gasket replacement. Head is loose, all bolts and manifolds detached. Now it looks like I must remove either the cam sprocket or the back portion of the timing belt cover in order to slide the head to the intake side. Is that right? Which is better?

Thanks in advance.
