Panhard rod bracket broke off axle 200 1991

My scenario with my 91 245: due to some rust, the attachment bracket for the panhard rod on the rear axle snapped off. The bracket is not a replaceable part--it consists of two plates extending from the axle itself. My guess is it has to be welded back on, so I was just seeing if anyone had any brilliant thoughts on this. If I'm on the right track, what might a shop charge for such a job? Thanks so much!
