Interesting Information - Metal Annealing - Aircraft Fluid Lines

β€˜β€˜Hey, kid, good to see you over here. Geez, everybody says ethanol will eat aluminum! We know better, don't we.

One thing I learned in airplane school is that the aluminum fuel lines should be annealed every 100 hour. Was taught a cool way to do it.

Use an acelylene torch and light the flame w/o adding oxygen. Coat the line black with carbon, then add oxygen and fan over the line until the carbon is burned off. Supposed to make it dead soft. ’’
