I spent much of the day banging my knuckles trying to reach those top bolts on my 240. I Lowered the back of the transmission to where the motor was practically hitting the fire wall and couldn't reach them. I did manage to get the left passenger side loose with a short socket and swivel ratchet by raising the transmission, but could barely see the center top and drivers side through the harness and plumbing. I believe Goatman mentioned in a previous post that you could remove the motor mounts and drop the engine for access, but I'm not sure that he was referring to a 240. I'm also wondering if this could cause damage to the harness etc.
If the easiest access is from underneath, what specific Tools and extension lengths would be needed. I'm desperate enough to even go to Sears for the tools.
