Cleaning the Cowl vents (drain) underneath wipers 200 1988

I searched the forum to no avail. What is the recommended procedure to clean the cowl vents under the wipers. Mine have years of gunk inside, and it looks like the drains are partly plugged from topside. It is draining (Slowly)at the passenger side pinch weld underneath the rear of the front door ... the front drain (1 st square-ish hole) is completely stopped up. The pine needles are not sticking through so, there is nothing to get a good hold on. Any tried and true methods I am too thick to think of on my on? Advice is appreciated!!
