Faint Knock/Tapping in Front End -- No Change After Front End Work 900

On my 1994 940 Bosch Turbo I noticed that especially when driving over rougher ground there is a faint tap-tappety-tappety-tap sound coming from the front end. Last month I replaced the ball joints (worn), all the suspension bushings (not bad) and tie rod ends (not bad either). Tapping noise persists, though. What could this be? Bearings? Part of the strut/shock?
