pushrod on my clutch snapped 2 blocks from my garage on the car's maiden voyage this year. Bit shocking really, managed to pull over and push it into a parking spot. The 2 pieces were still there. Took them to a local hardware store. He had low quality all thread and drill stock in 5/16ths, I decided to get fancy and make an actual copy of the OEM piece. So I used the drill stock, and tapped it to match the old piece. It wasn't pretty, seems the drill stock doesn't like to be hand machined with a cheap die, oh well. I'll have to look that up to see how to do it right. The threads I cut were a little serrated, but they seemed intact and worked well enough. Popped the new piece back in and continued my day, whizzing around town in my fine sporty 220.
The only reason I mention this is I haven't had to fix anything on this car in about 5 years, just basic maintenance. I also wanted to show others that a little mcgyver goes a long way. I think this new push rod should last a long time. If not I'll let you know.
