In trying to chase down an engine vibration, I've taken the transmission and clutch out and had the flywheel resurfaced. I marked the position of the flywheel on the crankshaft but I'm not assuming it was correct since so many other things on this car were screwed up by previous people. Question is, what is the procedure to put the flywheel back on? My Haynes manual has a picture showing a piston at TDC but doesn't say which piston it is. The same picture shows a horizontal line drawn between two bolt holes and a 15 degree angle from that line to the lower of two small 1/4" diameter holes on the right side of the flywheel. These two holes seem to be related to some kind of pickup. On the engine side of the flywheel, the holes become nubs that stick out maybe 1/4". There is some kind of sensor on the engine housing in between the two nubs on the flywheel. I've been told that this is a way to check timing. Would appreciate help.
