motor mounts 200 1981

In trying to chase down my vibration,I replaced the motor mounts, but not with oem mounts. A couple of old time Volvo mechanics have said pay the extra price and get oem Volvo mounts including the transmission mount. In this wonderful day of outsourcing, is it likely that I put 'new' mounts on that are either/or too hard or not made correctly?
