What adhesive to use on headlight lenses 200 1986

My son-in-law's '91 245 PS headlight got hit with a rock and cracked the plastic lens. They are nearly new (1 yr old) and wants to replace just the lens and not the entire unit. What is the best way to go about removing the old one and what adhesive should be used to secure the new lens to the reflector dish? Thanks.
