Cost of a decent paint job for 940 Sedan??? 900

Greetings Brickboard,

I'm looking at purchasing a 1995 940 Sedan with 125,000 on it. It has a branded title as a result of a rear end/rear passenger collision at some point. The body work looks bad on the rear passenger door and the overall paint in general looks a little old with some scuffs and scratches. Looks like it has spent most of its life not in a garage. The car has been checked out by my Volvo garage and only needs a timing belt and tires. The rest is cosmetic eyesores.

I called the local Volvo dealership which has a paint and body shop. They quoted me approximately $4,000 to do a "professional" job with factory Volvo paint. I was anticipating less than half that amount.

Can anyone chime in with a ball park $ figure for a reasonable repaint? The existing color is the funky Forest Green with tan interior. I was considering going to a blue or some other. It is a car I plan to fix up and pass along to two teens over the next 2 to 4 years. Just want it to look nice and respectable, not a museum quality job, nor a cheap Maaco $300 special either. Something in between.

Thanks
Kenreau
