At Tasca, the Crank Pulley for the 1985-> Harmonic Balancer (PN 9135194), also called a Crank Pulley or an OSCILLATION DAMPER, is 200.28$ about as of today, 21 June 2011.

You can get the ScanCrap (ScanTech) version for 74$ or so from IPD and 60$ from FCP. The Volvo 700-900 FAQ indicates "Note as well that the Volvo balancer has usually been found to be of much higher quality and with better ease of installation. This is one part you may want to buy OEM."

The Harmonic Balancer (PN 9135194) is a three piece part that can start to fail between 100k to 170k miles. My 1991 240 has 147k now and the Harmonic Balancer shows failure.

The rubber portion I just removed a few minutes ago is cracked and the outer pulley section has rotated out of alignment with the TDC keyway on the inner metal section that secures to the receiver on the front of the crankshaft.

On close inspection, the rubber ring has the number 3509299 on the rear side. The search for this Volvo PN on tasca reaveals a clip used on the 850. Oh well. Must be the PN for the vendor Volvo makes.

Can one find this bushing with the number 3509299 and have a machine shop press in and out to have a rebuilt B230 Crank Pulley (Harmonic Balancer)????

Please advise.

Back to front seals, wasserpumpen, and so on and on.
