I have been living without AC on my 240 for too long. About 2 years ago I went over a speed bump too fast hit it hard and my AC quit. Also windows did not work. I replaced fuse 12 (8A) and it blew again. I have been living with it like that for a while. Anyway recently I put in a 16A fuse and the compressor is working but cycling on and off so my R12 appears to have finally leaked out. So I am going to convert to 134A. I think I know the steps, looking at FAQs. Here is my quick summary, do I have it right? 1. Pull vacuum and bleed out rest of R12 (I have a 134A connector on low side at accumulator), 2) Drain oil from compressor 3) Put PAG oil in compressor 4) replace accumulator and orifice screen with 134 parts 5) Pull a vacuum on whole thing for an hour 6) If holds put in about 2 cans of 134A. 7) if no hold, pour some dye in the accumulator and feed in a little 134A to circulate it 8) fix leak 9) Then go back to vacuum step. If OK put in 2 cans of 134A (amount right? 24 oz for two cans). Am I missing anything? Do I need to flush lines or evap or condensor with solvent? What is the cylinder looking thing on one of the lines, do I need to worry about that? Where is the high side 134A fitting go on the back of the compressor? Which one is high and which one low? Do I even need to drain the oil out of compressor and replace it? Pulling that compressor is going to be a pain. Any thoughts appreciated. Even just a yes I did it like that and my car is cooling fine. Or no add X step and you will be good. Thanks in advance again. Happy 4th - working on the car, big celebration
