Follow-up Ghost in Brake System 200

I'm unable to access my previous unable my previous post for unknown reasons.

Anyway,to re-cap, our 1990 240 Sedan lost brakes (pedal went to the floor). The brakes then worked fine and worked for over 200+ miles. A Volvo dealer in N. MA was unable to find the cause. I took the car to the local independent shop who I trust.

The independent shop was not able to find any problem: no evidence of leaks, no evidence of a sticking caliper, etc. I decided to get the master cylinder and rear rotors/pads replaced as these seemed the most likely. But, the root cause remains unknown.

The shop indicated that the brake fluid was somewhat dirty; we did not change it since all bleeder screws and brake line caliper connections are stuck. PB Blaster was ineffective.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
