This morning I had the breather box (oil separator) replaced on my 240 with about 280,000 miles. It was seeping a bit of oil out the bottom and decided to have it replaced at a "reputable" shop. I was about to have some more work done when I noticed the front intermediate or camshaft seal bowling oil down the side of the motor. They told me they would replace the front seals for the price of the seals and labor (which they had just replaced 3 months ago). I decided to drive the car home and park it.
I thought the seals had gone bad or were not properly installed. Then I thought, what if the new breather box had something to do with the seals blowing out? Am I way off base here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I checked the oil level only to find it about 1 quart low. This particular NEVER leaks, drips or uses oil.
Please help me.....
Todd :-)
