Outside mirror glass 900

Anyone know how to remove just the glass from the outside Rear View Mirror? Once the glass is gone, the plate flexes and I can see the 8 tabs which can then be reached with a thin curved tool but with the glass in place trying to unhook the tabs results in cracking the glass...
???
