My 5 spd for your slushbox? -feeler- 200

Just a feeler to see if there is any interest in the following....

Years ago, I installed a 5 spd in my '92 wagon when the autobox started to die. Obtained all the parts from one place including pedal cluster, flywheel, transmission, drive shaft, etc. The car has been parked for several years and now I'm going to put it back on the road as I am selling our automatic equipped SUV. My wife doesn't drive much but when she does, she now prefers the automatic transmission of the SUV over either of our two other manual transmission cars.

So here is the deal:
I'm going to pull the engine in the Volvo while painting the car and while I'm at it, thought I would swap an automatic back in (Oh the horror!). But the spousal unit must be kept happy as she lets me keep my hobby cars. Therefore, in an effort to do this on the cheap, I'm wondering if anyone would like to do a tranny swap with me. The trick here is that you would have to live fairly close to me. And I live in southern Maine (Portland area).

This would be an all inclusive deal; every part, nut, and bolt from my car in exchange for the same from yours. The intent would be to unbolt one setup and bolt in the other. We meet somewhere in the middle, swap parts, then head home to our respective projects.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with my setup other than 5th gear has a slight bit more noise than the other gears. Synchros seem fine. I have put maybe 30,000 miles on everything so the clutch might still be good for awhile (it was new when installed). Haven't been under the car in awhile but I don't believe there are any oil leaks.

I'm not quite ready to perform this swap but if there was interest in doing so, it would inspire me to be ready in a month or so. I would only be interested in a slushbox known to be in good condition (not interested in rebuilding anything). Probably the way to do this would be for me to drive your car and after I put the rear end back in mine, you drive mine.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Tony
