Chinese compressors - experience so far 900

I am posting this as there looks to be varied opinions where the subject of AC is concerned, especially for some regarding the info in the FAQ's. I hope this might help others ..and I am always trying to learn.

The car is a '94 940. I bought it w/80K on it about 10 years ago ...practically new !

Series of events.
1. after a long period, wife complains it is not cooling that well. I stop at a local indie shop who looks to love old Bricks. He uses gauges the old fashioned way and checks and adds freon.
2. the car does seem to cool better ..but within 6 months random weird noises start to emulate from under the hood when the air is on ..like something trying to escape through an orifice or a port. I wait to get it seen about ..JUST long enough for the compressor to destroy itself. I am thinking the tech put too much freon in.
3. I find a Chinese compressor with 2 extra cylinders (stronger cooling claimed)..

I do the mechanical install (comp & new dryer), my local tech (not the one B4) sets it all up. It runs fine for well over a year. Then the auxiliary fan (at the rad) burns up (present day).

I replace the fan with a boneyard unit from a C70 ..and after I figured that I need to make sure all is plugged in securely ..all is working well. My tech puts in the right amount of freon through the single low side port up by the dryer (no high side port on the compressor).

Thing is .. the fan runs 100% of the time when the air is on, (as far as I can tell) ..and runs for a short period when the car cuts off. According to others here ..the first part is not right.

So ..
> Did the fan burn up because the head pressure on the Chinese compressor made it run all time?
> Is there something else that can make the fan run all the time? According to my tech, it is supposed to do that ...not so with others here.
> IS it because this unit has the extra 2 cylinders?
> OR ...did the fan burn out because it is just OLD? After all, the car has 320K + on it.

I am hoping that others that have bought a comp from China will chime in here and relate their experience. I may not be finished with this yet. Just not sure.

Thanks for a place to vent, and hopefully my experience will help others.

:)
