Has anyone out there ever installed a new A/C compressor? I was looking into getting a new one for my '85 brick, but one of my mechanics said that the 85 compressors work from the water pump. So, they'd have to install a fan and a newer model with new freon. (This is how I understood it.) All in all, it makes it much pricer than replacing one in a later model.

Can anyone confirm this?
