So I find a new Bosh water pump today and started to install it. I could not line up the bolt holes to get any of the bolts to follow through the pump and into the block. What is going on?!?!?
It was so frustrating. Everything looks identical to the old pump and I even tried prying up the pump to seat it, but could not get any of the bolts to start.

So then I pulled it all off and threaded each bolt into the block and all is good with the threads. I then tried again, this time putting on the two nuts on the studs first. Then with it lightly in place tried to get one of the upper bolts to start. NO GO. Then I took the point of a scribe and put it into the bolt hole of the pump and tried to line up the hole in the block with the pump. It is there but not quite in line.

Anyway, is there a secret to installing water pumps I would think not but this one is ridiculous.
