Hi,

The other day after driving around town I parked my car for a 2nd time, came back and was unable to use the gear shift. It only goes into park, reverse and neutral in range, with enough play in it that it's clear that it isn't engaging any gear. It bangs up against Drive, but won't go into Drive or the other numbers.

Preceding this, after a repair I noted to the mechanic a clicking sound when changing gears instead of a deeper "thunk" and was told that a plastic cover on the bushings was off but it was of no concern.

Any suggestions on how to get my car working again. The motor starts, but the car won't drive.
