1990 240 head gastket 200

Okay, so I have been to several postings and read an array of information about a blown head gasket. However, as I am still unsure of my own findings, I would like to ask about a head gasket question again.

I just finished on my second older 1990 240, the replacement of timing belt tension-er pulley, water pump, new belts, cleaned the throttle body and added new front seals to the crank and cam/intermediate gears.
After running the engine (which runs great now), I noticed on the passenger side just in front of the 2nd exhaust manifold, looking at it from the front of the engine, oil running down the block and on top of the oil filter. It is about a 1/2 inch long area running right with the surface of the block and head.
So I am ascertaining this to be a bad head gasket. Am I correct to think so??

Anyway I have read a lot here about removing the head and believe me I am willing but anxious about doing it. I don't understand anything about the valves and shims. I do get that I only need to remove the cam and I understand the sequence of the bearing block removal, but I am not certain about when I remove the cam what I will find loose under the cam. Shims? If so I will be keeping everything well labeled and in their own packages.Correct?

So here I go and any help would sure keep my nerves at ease!
I wish someone had a YouTube video of the whole process. Even Photos.
In fact I would be glad to give my phone # out for anyone who could personally give help. Or better yet, anyone who lives in Minnesota and is near the st.Paul area COME ON OVER!!!

I need to have this car ready in a week an a half for my college bound student.
Judd
