Head off. Blocked coolant channels? with pics. 200

I'm in the process of replacing the headgasket and just pulled the head off. It's my first time doing this so I'm not 100% sure of what to look for as far as whats wrong and so on. But when I look at the head I just took off it does look like the coolant passage is blocked at three places. I took some pics to show you. How would I remove the deposits safe? Also the smaller of the valves look white. Is that normal?
