Motor Mounts 200 1982

I have a B21 in my 244 and I have changed the motor mounts like a million times. I have just installed a new oil filter - was wondering if it's absolutely necessary to remove the oil filter to replace the mount on the passenger side? I don't want to ruin the gasket on the filter and I have run out of Mann filters and don't want to waste money by temporarily installing some Bosch or junky Fram filter...
