My quest for finding a parts manual for a 240 online has not been successful, so I purchased a download of an 86-93 Volvo 240 parts manual from an ebay vendor. It came via an attachment to an email message. 87 pages long. So far so good.....until I discover that it does not have any number at all for the transmission to gear shifter linkage. None at all shown. Strange, as most every other part of the car is shown, including part numbers, with the exception of internal parts for the engine and tranny. (most strange is that there were no external parts for the tranny shown either. I sent the seller a message, but haven't yet heard back. Hopefully soon. )
Anyway, yesterday the gear selector rod on my 93 240 broke at the tranny end. Stangely, both of my repair manuals, Bentley and Haynes, show the linkage to be reversed from how mine actually is. On both manuals, the length adjuster is found at the shifter end, but on my car, the adjuster is found at the tranny end of the gear selector rod. As the bushing evidently failed on the tranny end, the L-shaped fitting at the end of the rod broke off or possibly a locking ring failed and it came apart. I don't know,as the part(s) are missing altogether, and my hopes of seeing what the whole mechanism consists of on a parts manual page were dashed when this new manual doesn't show what parts I am needing to repair it. So.....I'm going to ask if anyone here has an exploded view of the parts AND the part numbers of each component part that make up the 240 gear selector rod and the fittings on both ends of it, including any of the tiny clips. Does anyone here have this page of the parts manual that could be sent via an email attachment?
Thanks very much for any assistance you can offer.
