Never thought I would be asking a question about something as lame as this, but I spent an hour replacing a front handle 3 times, and couldn't get the "trigger" to depress and open the latch though all of that.

To top it off I scatched the paint before realizing I should have taped=up the metal casting on the handle beforehand or the square hole in the doorskin.Not sure if the rods inside are bent or binding, cause there's not much clearance in there to check it out. Ahrrrrrrrrr.

Any tricks or black magic for this job will be greatly appreciated.
