There are couple of features "new" cars have that I really do wish our old 240's came with. One of them is good heated exterior mirrors. I would give up our mediocre AC for them. We have an excellent rear defroster, a heater that can peel paint and roast flesh...but no heated exterior mirrors! Or do we...
I did not realize that the 1992 and 1993 had these but it comes at the expense of getting electric mirror which I would rather do without. In addition, the few posts I found about them indicated that they just weren't worth the trouble. I am assuming that is because of Volvo's implementation as I can tell you the heated mirrors on my wife's appliancemobile are godsend (I am the designated window scraper, snow shoveler and step de-icer).
So, should I attempt to retrofit my 1990 DL Sedan with the newer mirrors...assuming I can find a set as well as the relay/timer? Should I try an appropriate redneck fix (Toyotanet guys used a motorcycle heated grip kit for their Tacoma mirrors)? Should I just repurpose grocery sacks as mirror condoms for 240 days per year of frost/ice/snow/sleet we have in NWI?
