K9800 and K10042 Odometers 200 1990

Hello I am in the midst of diagnosing an inoperable odometer on a 1990 240 saloon. It is fitted with a K10042 odometer.The speedometer is working.I have replaced the odometer gear with the plastic IPD variety. Still non operational after cleaning and resoldering all joints. I have an 1991 240 estate with a K9800 odometer. I would like to install in the K9800 into the 1990 to verify the pickup in the differential is operational. Any opinions welcome.
