When should clutch be replaced? 200

My ultra dependable '80 242DL w/an M45 & 116K mis. chatters at takeoff. I'm the second owner but sure it's the original clutch. Have replaced the center driveline bearing & that eliminated some chatter. Read somewhere that too much clutch debris could damage the flywheel. Any truth to that & how much chatter is acceptable before replacement? I don't really push it too much anymore. Thanks.
