Quite some time ago...
my brother-in-law lost coolant on the highway (1987 745)
and ran things until they got quite hot
and holed the #1 piston (etc.)
The automatic transmission from that car now sits in my garage.
Is it worth listing for sale?
How can I tell if it, too, was damaged by overheating?
(Since its fluid flows through the little heat exchanger in the radiator.)
Maybe I just answered my own question?
Since the radiator had no coolant, the trans was not subjected to extreme coolant temperatures in the last 5 minutes of its former existence?
Thank you!
