Trans fluid flush bad idea? 200

I have a 92 240 gl and was thinking about changing and flushing the tranmission fluid. I dont think it has been changed in at least 10 years and possibly more but have heard more than once that changing the fluid is a bad idea with older transmissions. Has anyone heard this and if so what could happen if I do have it flushed and changed?
