I just priced the replacement of my muffler and tailpipe at $250. I'm not inclined to pay this much.

Is this a DIY job? (Keeping in mind that a relatively simple repair becomes considerably more difficult when performed under the car, on my back, getting dirty, holding a light, etc.)

How much time might I expect to take doing this job?

Where would I shop for the components?

Anything else I should consider in making this decision?
