So, I've bought this '94 Regina 940 wagon (290.000km) several weeks ago. It has several issues that I have to resolve therefore I don't drive it much. I'm dealing with some obvious stuff, but there are also problems that I have for the very first time as a DIY-er. First is the oil pressure light that comes on at idle. So far I have changed oil to Mobil 1 10W-30 and the pressure sensor. I have hooked up oil pressure gauge and the pressure is "by the book" when running. Next step will be pulling down the oil pan and checking seals at the oil pump and the pump itself. The engine makes no noises of any kind, just typical for Volvo sawing machine sound. Recently I got new surprise. RPM is fluctuating fast at idle around 700 RPM (maybe it is too fast for the needle to give correct readings) and this pulsing jerks the engine, but the car doesn't stall. All codes says 1-1-1, RPM sensor replaced along with idle control valve. What is next step? Compression? Could it be the head gasket giving up? Could it be spark plugs? Injector? ECU? Please, share your wisdom.
Thank you in advance.
