Flex pipe under engine cracked? 200

So I replaced my radiator yesterday and with the belly pan removed I noticed a flexible metal pipe at the bottom-passenger side of the engine had a big crack (half way across) in it. The pipe is 2-3 inch diameter and very thin. With the belly pan attached it sort of helps close the crack back up. The car ran fine with or without the belly pan (with or without the crack wide open).

What is this pipe?
What is the negative to leaving it with a crack in it?
How easy to replace?
