My clutch began making metallic noises and had a hard time shifting. The metallic noise is when the clutch is out - especially noticable in neutral. It was chopping a bit when engaging.
I pulled the tranny - everything looks ok. Old clutch, bearings plate flywheel all check out. When I took out the throw out bearing the spindle shifted about and really feels loose and noisy when I spin it back and forth. Is this normal when in neutral? Do I replace the old clutch and bearings and hope for the best? Or is the loosey spindle a bad bearing inside the box? Is it possible that I have a warped flywheel or some other problem. I do not want to put this back together and have to take it all apart again.
