Is there an aasy way to remove OEM sound-deadener/insulation residual? 444-544

Hello Gang,
I plan on installing modern sound-deadener all over my car. So, I need to remove the OEM sound-deadener. It's a messy job! I am using a heat gun which gets most of it off but a tar-like messy goo remains. Does anyone know an easy way to remove this stuff? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Especially if it helps it to wipe right off! :)
Regards,
Jim Pascale
