Door Latch Woes 200 1992

I have been having issues opening the doors on my driver side. I initially suspected the door handles, so I checked them out and they seem to be ok. Just to be sure I swapped the driver handle with a spare I had, but I still have problems. I lubed up all the mechanisms I could reach and no change. In order to open the door from the outside I have to push very firmly against the door and then pull up on the handle. Does this point to a particular component failure?
