I posted a question about the rear brake lights going out yesterday afternoon. The quick responses were appreciated. When one person mentioned the "bulb out relay" I recalled that the notion had crossed my mind early in the diagnosis game, but I dismissed it, thinking that it seemed illogical that a sensor that was supposed to indicate an unsafe condition would actually create one.....
When the possiblility was mentioned here, though, I went to the "search" and found all kinds of stuff, especially Art's great drawing of the device and how to bypass it.
I parted out a 93 sedan about five years ago (see my sig) and kept all of the electrical parts including relays, so when I checked my stash, I had an extra!
A simple unplug, switch and plug restored my lights and kept me from the torture of rewiring the brake lights from the brake pedal switch to the back of the car.
I try to contribute to this board when I think I have something to say, and the reward, as in this case is priceless. THANKS and Happy Holidays!
