After cleaning the TB and MAF, and replacing the flametrap, oil separator, and some hoses, I am still getting the CEL but now with code 1-1-3. So I guess I am going to try cleaning the injectors. I have been reading the FAQ and lots of BB posts. A few questions:
1) According to one BB post, it would be a good idea to remove fuse 1, then run the engine until the fuel lines empty (or at least reduce pressure) before starting to remove the fuel rail. Comments?
2) Can I use solvents I already have in stock to clean the injectors? Like naptha, or acetone, or spirits?
3) What else should I do at the same time? For instance, is it necessary/smart to replace the fuel filter at this time? (Don't know its age/condition).
4) Any special routine for starting after this job? No need for priming the fuel lines/pump or anything like that?
I will buy the Bosch injector "kit" for the injector seals and cap. I don't own a fuel pump, compressor, guages or any other special equipment.
Thanks,
Keith Ostertag
