Tail light assembly confusion 200 1991

Hi all,

I am trying to repair the tail light to its original setup. I bought this fantastic car about 6 months ago and little by little have been doing some needed TLC.

One of the previous owners seemed to be an energetic electrician. The passenger's tail light's flex circuit board apparently stopped working and that owner decided to cut the wires from the connector and run wires directly to the different bulb sockets; that looked too messy, so I decided to get a new circuit board and carefully reconnected all the wires to the connector making sure all the wire colors matched.

The problem I have is that the brake light do not come one the exact opposite. In other words, when I use the brakes, the passenger tail light's lower right side bulb turns on, while the driver's side turns on the upper middle bulb.

I suspect that person tinkered with both tail light assemblies.

I need some help to know what bulbs are supposed to turn on when the brakes are in use. Also would like to know the proper operation of all the bulbs so I can fix it according to factory specs.

Jorge
