After a rebuild on a B16b , 8k later I find a flame track from #2 cyl to the push-rod tubes on the head gasket. giving the bottom end pressure. the same track was starting on #4. The plugs looked good and equal to burn value. The on ly red flag was the intake valve on #1 looked hotter, all other were equal. The head was assembled without anything other then the copper composite gasket.I can only assume the deck and head were spec'ed for square as the rebuilder was a good rep shop . ( He has since retired.) The debate is about more then just the gasket type / quality, but about using permatex (as an example) with the gasket. The head was retourqued after run-in. Before reassb., I will have the surfaces mated but need a cocensus on the gasket (type) with (or without )gasket gupe. I have the spec's on tourque and pattern, but are there changes when uaing diff. materials other then 1956 factory O.E. appl.
