A friend's 1996 960 was recently in a minor front end accident, the only minor damage was a broken control arm and crushed fender. The major damage was done by the air bags causing a broken windshield along with breaking the arm and wrist of said friend because of his hand placement while driving.
Question is as we replace the control arm, windshield and fender how vital are the air bags to replace to get the car running again? Do these cars have some kind of internal kill switch that will keep the car from running unless we reset it from the air bag deployment? While we are planning on replacing the air bags we need the car running first. The car had a bad oil leak and unless we can find it and fix it said friend does not want to drop that much $ into fixing the car if the leak can not be fixed semi cheaply.
Thank You for your time.
