I managed to find a 1989 740 n/a wagon, with the 530 head. It is SLIGHTLY warped (looking down length of mating surface, it is slightly arched at the area between the cylinders. The head is at the manufacturer spec of 146.1 mm, and all warp should be gotten out and still be better than minimum specs.
QUESTION: What should I do about the camshaft/distributor from the older car.
1) Should I have the cams exchanged (my car's onto the head of the older car)?
2) Should I have all valves changed over from MY old head to the one from the 1989 740?
3) Should I just take it to the head shop and tell them to do a complete valve job for me?
4) What does it mean to "lap" the valves?
Please be patient, still learning :)
(Basically, should I just put the '89 Head on my 91 Turbo or do I need to do a complete cam/valve swap with from my old head to the '89 one?
